Complementary healthcare aid

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for complementary healthcare aid. Find out about the measures available and run a simulation of your rights.

REDUCED-RATE COMPLEMENTARY HEALTH COVER

Students whose financial situation does not enable them to pay for optional complementary health cover may be able to choose the Complémentaire Santé Solidaire as their mutual insurance provider.

  • This means they will not need to pay to see a doctor, dentist or physiotherapist, for medication or for hospitalization.
  • In most cases it covers dental prostheses, glasses and hearing aids.
  • It guarantees that no healthcare costs will need to be paid up front.
  • It ensures that doctors' fees are not exceeded.

ELIGIBILITY AND APPLYING

If you are under 25
You are considered as being dependent on your parents if:
  • you are associated with their tax household
  • OR you live in the same household
  • OR they pay you a food allowance resulting in a tax deduction

Your eligibility for the Complémentaire Santé Solidaire will therefore be assessed as a family application and considered as part of a household including your parents.

If, however, you meet all of the following conditions:
  • You do not live at the same address as your parents at the time you apply
  • AND you have completed a separate tax return or officially pledge to do so the following year
  • AND you receive no food allowance giving rise to a tax deduction
  • OR you officially pledge to no longer receive such an allowance when making the application

Then you can apply for the Complémentaire santé solidaire as an individual and be assessed based solely on your own resources. Note that grants based on social criteria do not need to be declared in the application for the Complémentaire santé solidaire.
If you are over 25
To benefit from the Complémentaire santé solidaire, you must file an independent application. You must meet the standard conditions:

  • Be covered for your healthcare costs by the Assurance Maladie
  • Your resources must not exceed the threshold for allocation of the Complémentaire santé solidaire

Note that grants based on social criteria do not need to be declared in the application for the Complémentaire santé solidaire.
