The Grenoble-INP Student Band was founded in 2008 by Simon Hannouz. It took the name of Fanfar'naque and was, until September 2018, a "club" of the Grand Cercle , i.e. the equivalent of a pole within the association. The band then performs mainly for events within Grenoble-INP itself and is composed of 5 to 10 members. The band grows progressively, then from 2015 onwards by getting paid on small external events in order to not depend only on subsidies and to better manage its expenses. The band manages to make itself known on a regional scale, by taking part in events in all the Rhône-Alpes region, for example the festival of lights in Lyon, then on a national scale by obtaining in particular 3 consecutive years the first place in a national contest, the CDMGE. It thus participates in the influence of the INP schools throughout France.
