New health measures: changes for the university

As you know, the evolution of the health situation has led the President of the Republic of France to take new measures to slow the progression of the epidemic. Read the UGA President's message for more information.

Since the beginning of this crisis, balanced measures have been implemented at all higher education institutions to guarantee the health security of both students and staff while ensuring educational continuity and avoiding the isolation of students who have particularly suffered in recent months from the severe limitations of on-site and face-to-face participation.

Because of your sense of responsibility and because of all the measures that have been applied, the President of the Republic has decided to trust us and to allow universities to continue to function as they have been doing for several weeks, in terms of teaching. Thus, we will continue to welcome you on our campuses in the strict respect of the health protocol guidelines and with a very limited capacity. We are counting on you to continue to be vigilant in respecting these guidelines, as has always been the case.

Concerning knowledge assessments, our ministry informed us on Friday morning on how to proceed. Our Minister of Higher Education wishes that we distinguish continuous controls from exams. As far as the former are concerned, they can continue to be organized in classrooms if and only if they take place within the framework of tutorial or practical groups and of course in the respect of the strict sanitary protocol imposed on our institutions. Your departments/schools should have communicated with you (or will do so very soon) to bring this information to your attention. As far as exams are concerned, those taking place remotely in April will be maintained unless you have been informed otherwise by your school/department. Exams scheduled to take place in person in April will be postponed to face-to-face in May (or transformed into distance learning in April). An exception is made for all exams related to health studies, which will be held in person in April. I invite you to be particularly attentive to the information that will be given to you in the next few hours by your department/school regarding the organization of exams for the rest of the year. University services are currently organizing themselves to allow the tests to be held in May while guaranteeing the respect of the capacity of the rooms that will be used.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones,
Best regards,

Yassine Lakhnech
President of Université Grenoble Alpes
